Tony Humphries needs no introduction and I talked about his exquisite style of DJing and his legendary status as a producer in this piece. If you like house of any type, from the soulful, vocal variant to the most minimalist type you should go and hear Tony Humphries spin at least once in your life. You should dance too. He’s a contemporary of both Ron Hardy and Larry Levan and he’s still with us. This is a review of his fine  contribution to King Street Sounds’ Mix The Vibe series.

Mix The Vibe
King Street Sounds/US/CD
Big Tone mixes together a fine set of King Street gems like Mateo and Matos’ “Tension,” Kerri Chandler’s “Hallelujah” and Ly’s lush and majestic Jersey memorial, “Back To Zanzibar.” The mixes are smooth, long and dynamic, as you would expect from a legend like Humphries, and the tunes are of the high quality we have come to know from King Street and its track offshoot Nightgrooves. This comp also contains future classics like Sabryna Pope’s truly beautiful “It Works For Me,” “Til We Meet Again” by Urban Soul and Souffles H’s “Mondo Grosso.” Essential material for garage heads and lovers of good music. Play it loud and wear a hole in the carpet. Chris Orr
