Neither DJ Kicks nor Kruder And Dorfmeister need any sort of introduction. Both b(r)ands were ubiquitous in the ’90s. This came out two years before The K&D Sessions mix blew everyone away and completely solidified K & D’s grip on the downtempo side of dance music.

DJ Kicks
Kruder And Dorfmeister
Studio !K7/GER/CD
K7’s fine DJ Kicks series continues with central European downtempo leaders Kruder and Dorfmeister. This atmospheric set is a fine blend of dubbed out downbeats from labels like Cup of Tea, Ninja Tune and Compost, and fly jungle from the likes of Aquasky and JMJ & Flytronix. This collection also features tracks by the lads themselves, “High Noon” from the “G Stoned” EP and a new track called “DJ Kicks.” Overall this mix is a highly listenable, funky as fuck and a luxuriantly dubby exercise (or should I say lesson) in breakbeat science. Hunt it down and aurally upload its contents voraciously. Very essential comp for the CD rack. Chris Orr
