I loved Steve Rachmad’s — aka Sterac — material in the ’90s under this monicker and as Rachmad Project. I teeeeeeruly love this record and often find its beautiful keyboard line running through my head. If you haven’t heard it you need to. One of the hyperlinks below will allow you to do that.

Secret Life Mixes Part 1
100% Pure/Holland/12
Amsterdam’s Steve Rachmad gets two tracks from his “Secret Life of Machines” LP lifted out and remixed. Jamez from Touché gives “Satyricon” a hard, but groovy, Pierre-style workout, transplanting a metallic, hollow, but bassy spine into the track and filling out the rest of the structure with acidic squelch and atmospheric pads, as all the while, slicing strings and stinging hi-hats wheel by. On the flipside Sensurreal launch “Axion” into a deep space orbit through a galaxy of meteoric breakbeats and low-gravity (and temperature) string pads. All this is then added to a nebulous, swirling keyboard line and a smooth, but firm bassline that would awaken life on Mars and assure Dexter Wansel that his work was never in vain. Chris Orr
